Anti-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy

The Halal Global Training Center is committed to implementing the Persons with Disabilities Rights System in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which aims to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities and ensure their equal access to services.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia became a party to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol in 2008, one of the main international human rights conventions issued by the United Nations.

Purpose:

To define the mechanism for receiving and addressing requests from trainees with disabilities in a manner that ensures equality in training and examination opportunities without compromising competence or impartiality.

Scope:

This policy applies to all trainees and candidates for examinations at the Halal Global Training Center and covers all training programs and assessment activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Admission and Registration Department:
Responsible for receiving disclosure from the trainee on whether they are a person with a disability and coordinating with them to identify the required accommodations.
  • Quality and Development Department:
Reviews and approves the accommodation plan periodically to ensure equal opportunities and compliance with international standards.
  • Trainers and Examiners:
Responsible for implementing the approved accommodations during training or examinations in accordance with the approved plan, while maintaining confidentiality and respect.

Commitments:

1.         The Center ensures non-discrimination against persons with disabilities by providing equal opportunities in admission, registration, training, and examinations, and shall not reject any trainee based on disability as long as competence requirements are met.

2.         The Center is committed to providing appropriate arrangements for persons with disabilities according to their needs, such as additional time, suitable facilities, enlarged training materials, sign language interpreters, and others.

3.         The Center ensures the provision of an appropriate training environment, including facilities accessible to wheelchairs and electronic platforms compatible with screen readers.

4.         Disclosure data regarding disability is kept strictly confidential, and access to such information is limited to individuals whose work requires it for the purpose of implementing accommodations.

5.         The Center ensures that staff and trainers receive the necessary training on how to deal with trainees with disabilities respectfully and professionally.

6.         Any complaint received from a person with a disability regarding discrimination or deficiency in accommodations shall be handled immediately.

7.         The Center conducts periodic reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of the accommodations provided and works to develop them in line with best practices.

Procedures:

A. Registration Stage

1.         The trainee completes the electronic registration form.

2.         The trainee answers the disclosure question: Are you a person with special needs? (Yes/No).

3.         If the answer is “Yes,” the system requests brief details or allows the trainee to select the type of required support.

B. Initial Evaluation

1.         The registration officer contacts the trainee confidentially to discuss their needs.

2.         The identified needs are documented in a dedicated internal form.

C. Accommodation Plan

1.         The Training Department prepares an accommodation plan in coordination with the trainee.

2.         The plan is submitted to the Quality Department for approval.

3.         A copy of the plan is securely stored in the trainee’s file.

D. Implementation

1.         Trainers and examiners are informed of the approved accommodations without disclosing any medical details.

2.         Trainers and examiners implement the required accommodations during training or examinations such as extra time, accessible venues, or assistive tools.

E. Follow-Up

1.         After the course or examination, the training team records its observations on the effectiveness of the accommodations provided.

2.         These observations are used to improve and develop future procedures.

Review:

This policy shall be reviewed annually or whenever there are changes in national regulations or international standard requirements related to this matter.
